We walked to this hotel and checked in at 2am after a medical emergency at St John’s Medical Center. We were beyond exhausted and stuck in a foreign town with no car (we’d been in between flights when the health issue started) and the clerk that checked us in was SO kind! I think her name was Teresa, she was professional, soft-spoken and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and feel welcomed. The room was spotless, quiet, and super comfortable as well. Thank you so much. You guys were the next best thing to home on a night like that.

I had rebooked this hotel for the 3rd time since my first two times were so memorable, but sadly, after the last stay here I'm highly reconsidering booking again. My first two visits were great and I had nothing but exceptional reviews, but after this past trip I was very disappointed.||I'm not quite sure what happened in the past year, but the quality of this hotel has downgraded significantly. The highlight of this hotel in prior visits was the hotel staff - but they've become SO rude. I got in late after my flight, and I had to wait in the queue for a little bit, and while she was apologetic, she treated me very differently than the family she had helped check in prior. Thankfully I heard all about the hotel offerings through them because she did not review any of them with me. THEN, the staff who did check me out the following day - I definitely had seen her on my last visit so she's been there for a while, but she was SO short with me. I was mid question and she would cut me off. Before I even spoke, she asked me if I was checking out which I wasn't -- it would have been nice if she could have just listened to see what my question was before assuming. When I did check out, her tone was so sharp and she didn't even offer to print out or email my receipt - literally said 5 words. "Check out?" "Okay, all set". Meanwhile, for the man after me she actually offered to answer any questions and if he wanted his receipt printed or emailed. And, there was another guy who walked out while I was checking out and she was warm to him! Clearly, she has the ability to be warm but I did not appreciate how she treated me so cold. A front desk staff that has preferential treatment is terrible service - what a turn off.||Next, the rooms. These were always such a highlight of the hotel. While in stays prior, the rooms were immaculate, this time I definitely saw the wear/tear of the hotel. It was still clean, but definitely not to the standard of the past. The beds have also become incredibly soft and it was so hard to fall asleep. ||The daily rate is pretty steep so in the past because everything was so great about it, I found the means to justify paying for the price. But after this half hearted, cold experience? Absolutely not worth the price. You can find more friendly staff, better rooms in a prime location elsewhere.

Just had an excellent stay at The Ambrose Hotel. The hotel common area is full of charming gathering spaces indoor and outdoor. The staff was accommodating and hospitality-centered (including Johnnie who greeted us and was perhaps the manager). The hotel room was great. And I was able to jog down to the ocean for my morning exercise (a 15 minute jog or 40 minute walk). I will definitely be back and highly recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at many hotels over the last two years and I have got to be honest - the Ambrose is one of the best. What makes it so great is not the beautiful rooms, the happy hour or the coffee they offer, it's not the welcoming lobby, the fireplace or the beautiful library - it's the front desk team. They are unmatched. Fern, Johnnie, Taylor, Nicole and Jose are so kind and welcoming and fun to talk to. They give you great recommendations in the area and they truly care about you. Johnnie was the best at giving food recommendations and always knew what you were in the mood for. Fern was easy to converse with, Taylor was an amazing problem solver and Nicole was beyond professional. You will not go wrong no matter who you talk to and it's obvious that the front desk manager truly cares about the hotel and his team. Brandon is amazing and goes the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect for your stay. He can relate to you about anything and truly wants you to have a great time while in Santa Monica. I cannot recommend this team or hotel enough. It was truly the best stay and I will be back.

First of all great localization if you prefer tranquility and peacefulness. Nice restaurants and shops nearby. Wonderful mobility solution within a 3 mile radius offered via driver in his Tesla car. Very nice staff with warm welcoming attitude and who has been always helpful. Comfortable and silent room with great equipments (nice beds and great TV program selection HD quality) , nice and well decorated lobby area for relaxing. Gym was a nice extra . So it was the perfect place to begin my stay in the LA area.

Room is great. Our team had four rooms booked for multiple nights. The room was so incredibly noisy. I was awakened by men talking loudly at 4:30AM. Then I finally fell back asleep only to be awakened at 6:30 AM by the trash trucks emptying the dumpsters for 15-20 minutes right next to my room (overlooking the alley). It was horrible. I told the personnel at the front desk, and she couldn't have cared less. I checked out and into a Marriott where I got a good night's sleep. I needed it.

A regular stop for us for St John’s med appointments. It smells like flowers. We love the relaxed vibe, and always look forward to seeing Johnny and Brandon. Beds are super comfy and they are directly across street from outstanding Tartine bakery!

We stayed at Hotel Ambrose for 3 days and 2 nights, arriving on a Saturday evening. Since we had barely stayed long enough in the room, we specifically requested not to have room service on Sunday, but asked for cleaning on Monday instead. On Monday, we left for lunch before noon and returned around 3:30 PM, messaged them and expecting the room to be cleaned by then, only to find it hadn’t been.

When I approached the front desk to inquire, I was told that the room would be cleaned by 5 PM. I explained that we had a small child who needed a nap, especially after a 12-hour jet lag, and requested for the room to be cleaned sooner. Unfortunately, the staff informed me that they had no control over the timing, and the room would only be cleaned by 5 PM—whether we wanted it or not is the only option.

While the stay itself was decent, the service was very disappointing. For the price we paid, I would not recommend Hotel Ambrose, especially if you're looking for a more flexible and pleasant experience after a long trip.

The lack of responsiveness for the room service was frustrating, and it overshadowed what could have been a more enjoyable stay. It was especially annoying to return and find the used towels I had placed on the floor still lying there, despite requesting cleaning. Yet, they expected us to wait for the room to be cleaned only when they were ready.

This is well below the standard of quality and decent service that ANY hotel should provide.
