Heritage Villas advertises as " Luxury" Apartments and tenants pay luxury apartment rent. This could really be a comfortable living choice for seniors. It has a quiet location and with some modernization and TLC it could be beautiful. Unfortunately, my mother is a tenant who is not receiving luxury maintenance/repair service. The "owners" have changed the leasing policy so that tenants cannot call in a service request. Unless they are experiencing a fire or a flood energency, the tenant is requred to mail in or drop off a completed service request form. This is unsanitary, unhealthy as well as inconvenient when dealing with several types of repair issues.
Additionally, at the recommendation of the Office Manager I purchased safety knobs for my mothers unsafe gas range. Entering the front door to my mother's unit when visiting one day, I smelled gas. She was in her bedroom and didn't snell the gas. One of the burners was releasing gas in the kitchen. My mother hadn't been in the kitchen but her cleaning lady had just left. I later learned that the range knobs used in these units are so sensitive that if brushed by a skirt, a hip, etc. when opening a cabinet or the microwave, the knob turns and releases gas without flames. Management is aware of this issue and should make all of the tenants aware of the danger. My mother migjt have died had I not visited that day. There could have been an explosion if fire had broken out. Then there is the matter of having regular maintenance performed for pest control, smoke detector batteries and heating filters (there is no air conditioning). A maintenance request form must be filked out and submerged for servicing on things that should be maintained automatically. My mother's smoke detector is going off and she has seen gnats or ants crawling into the kitchen. Time to fill out and drop off another maintenance request form for pest control service and a smoke detector inspection.
