I cannot recommend this tour enough. We were passing through Ketchikan on a cruise ship looking for a more authentic Alaskan experience and Ketchikan Kayak Co delivered! Our guides were kind and knowledgeable and passionate about Alaska. We experienced an abundance of wildlife including jellyfish, whales, eagles and starfish. When I think of my travels to Alaska in years to come I’ll always remember my kayak tour in Clover Pass. This is a must if you’re visiting Ketchikan!

We booked the Zodiac Fast Boats excursion while visiting Ketchikan on a Alaskan Cruise. We are a couple (60,54), that were very apprehensive weather to go through with excursion due to the cold weather, (early May),and potential rain. Ultimately decided how many can say they captained a boat in the Pacific Ocean in Alaska no less.
It was beyond awesome. And beyond beautiful. A few comments that may help anyone who might be considering. First off. Everyone from the driver to the gentlemen who helped us gear up to our tour guide to the bartender in the restaurant lodge were extremely friendly and professional.
There was only two of us booked for our excursion date and they gave us undivided attention as if we were VIPs. Second. The weather gear provided was far above what I was expecting. They had top quality Bibs, Jackets, Boots, Gloves in all possible sizes and getting cold or wet was of no issue. Third. Our guide Andy was very patient in making sure we were comfortable operating our Zodiac as well as attempting to find wildlife continuously as we explored the many islands and waterway. We saw Eagles and sea lions, as well as several waterfalls. But no whales.
Fourth. Frequently excursions will list snacks provided after your excursion only to be a bottle of water and a bag of chips. We were pleasantly surprised to be brought into the on site beautifully designed lodge where we offered a complimentary drink of our choice as well as very tasty hard breads, assorted veggies and Humus dip, crap dip and Salmon dip all of which were delicious.
I would highly recommend the Ketchikan Kayak Company for anyone who loves nature and would like to avoid crowded impersonal cruise ship excursions.

Great Experience! Had so much fun in the zodiac boats and spotting wildlife out on the water. Saw whales spouting and eagles in nests. Loved the vibrant colors of all the sea stars too! Devon was a fantastic guide and all the gear is in new and kept us dry. 5 star fun!

Playing tourist for a day, our family got to experience our island home in a new way. This was such a core memory for my kids (10,11) that they want to grow up to be your guides.
As a parent it's always a gamble on what will tickle their fancy, but this was a family friendly adventure. Our tour guides knew just how to spark the love of nature and show these local kids new things and engage them. Dana is absolutely amazing with kids! I was really impressed with Leanne's respect for wildlife and practices. She was excellent at keeping the group together and I felt relaxed and at ease, which is hard to do as a parent! Sophie showed my girls a sea creatures and took some memorable family photos that we will treasure.
I am so impressed with the caliber of tour guides employed with this tour company. They are true professionals and obviously enjoy what they do. They taught me some things and were such a joy to kayak with. Alaska is beautiful, but it's the people that make it special. 100% would recommend

Note: We had an amazing weather day. Not always the deal. Always plan for rain. The foot rudders were tricky but pat your head rub your belly, not a huge hang up, still pretty easy to navigate. The kids paddled the whole time and loved it! I am not a physically active person and my arms weren't sore the next day at all surprisingly. They have dry bags and gear and everything you could need so just show up and know you are in good hands, enjoy!

Had the most amazing experience with this company on a recent stop in Ketchikan. We did the kayak tour with Chris and Dana and they were just incredible! From start to finish, I had such a pleasant experience booking with them and it exceeded all expectations! Even as beginner kayakers, they were patient and helpful and always made sure we were having fun! The whole team is wonderful and I highly recommend booking with them!

I loved the experience and wholeheartedly recommend! We decided to book last minute since we wanted to kayak in the ocean and the weather was nice. Devon the owner helped us set the booking up and then the tour guides Forrest and Caity were phenomenal. Forrest even spoke Spanish and they both made sure we were comfortable in the kayaks and shared a ton of insight. We even got to spot a sea lion 🙂

This was definitely one of the highlights to our Ketchikan trip. My friends and I were promptly picked up by our shuttle driver Eric in downtown Ketchikan. Eric was friendly and answered all of our questions about life in Alaska. Arriving at the launch site, our guides Carston and Ben greeted us warmly. With limited luggage space, I was worried about getting my only pair of tennis shoes wet while kayaking. However, my anxiety was not warranted as my feet and whole body stayed completely dry! We were offered a bib and raincoat if we wanted them. I had worn lighter clothing in expectation of using their waterproof outerwear, and was sufficiently warm with my t-shirt, light pants, and fleece sweater. Experiencing wildlife up close was more than I had expected! We watched an eagle eat lunch, held purple and orange sea stars, and were followed around Clover Island by a group of stellar sea lions. Ben and Carston were excellent guides, taking the trek at our pace and stopping to show and educate us on the wildlife around us. They were kind and considerate and very knowledgeable. We felt completely safe with their guidance. A spread of smoked salmon, salmon dip, and warm beverages awaited our return.

We arrived to Ketchikan on the Celebrity Solstice and we wanted an experience that was different than what was offered through the cruise ship. We found the Bike and Hike experience with Ketchikan Kayak and it was fantastic. The entire process was extremely smooth - easy meet and pick up at the pier, transported to their location north of Ketchikan, met up with our guide, Danyel, and her two trainees, Cheyenne and Brenna, and off we went. They all made us feel so safe and comfortable and really allowed the experience to develop into what we wanted. The bikes are super easy to operate and make the 5 - 6 mile ride to the trail head enjoyable and carefree. The hike was breathtaking and informative as Danyel lead us through the forest with several educational stops along the way. And the stop on the beach was stunning. We had a great time getting to know all three of them which made the experience even better. We HIGHLY recommend this experience for anyone on a cruise ship!!!
